Oguchi Onyewu
Since becoming a professional athlete in 2002, Oguchi has always aimed to maintain a strong and healthy lifestyle. Growing up in a large family of extremely athletic siblings pushed Oguchi to work even harder at his craft if he wanted to stand out and be noticed. Having access to some of the world's best physical therapists and performance coaches gave him a better appreciation for the limits and capabilities of the human body.
He has played professional soccer in 7 countries and has been exposed to some of the best health practices that you can find anywhere in the world. Together with his vast knowledge of sport and the physical demands required to be in top personal shape he has formed ONYX Elite. With the help of his nationally recognized staff of fitness coaches, ONYX Elite is determined to turn heads as we work to propel our clients to become the best version of themselves!
Chris Gorres
As a former high school and collegiate athlete, Chris has always had a passion for fitness. After playing college football at Cornell University, he decided to pursue a career as a personal trainer. He acquired certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and continues to educate himself, making him one of the best and brightest in the field of performance coaching. He has worked with athletes on all different levels and sports, specializing in speed, power, strength, injury prevention, functional training, and rehabilitation.
Some of his notable clients include Lorenzo Alexander (Arizona Cardinals), Ryan Kerrigan (Washington Redskins), Oguchi Onyewu (US Soccer), Ali Krieger (US Soccer), Ashlyn Harris (US Soccer), Bill Hamid (DC United), Brandon Guyer (Tampa Bay Rays), and many more. Chris is committed to demonstrating his expertise and delivering his vast knowledge to his clients to bring out the best in them.
Cory Broadnax
Cory played college football at Duke University graduating in 2004. Following college, he worked in the Sports Performance Department at Georgetown University under Coach Mike Hill. Cory has experience working with all types of athletes from youth to professional, including Katie Ledecky (U.S. Swimming) and the NCAP swim club, LJ Hoes (MLB), Chris Wright (NBA), Quinn Cook (NBDL), Lasan Kromah (Greek Professional Basketball), and Kelly Sherman (Middlebury Women's Hockey). Cory loves the challenge of working with athletes of all sports from ballet to rugby, analyzing the movements associated with each sport and creating the proper exercise prescription to prevent injury while excelling at the sport, thereby creating a better athlete. Cory has also worked with many general fitness clients of all ages and experience levels. Cory is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is Functional Movement Systems (FMS) certified.
Candace Broaddus
Candace is a graduate of Virginia Tech (BS Ag Economics), Virginia Commonwealth University (BS Exercises Science), and California University of Pennsylvania (MS Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention). While at VCU she interened with the University of Richmond Men's Basketball program where she gained extensive knowledge in lifting technique and program progression. She has used her knowledge since then in working with athletes of various sports and clients of different activity levels. Candace has received her certification in Strength and Conditioning (CSCS) and Performance Enhancement (PES) and is an avid runner who has completed over 15 half marathons in the past fives years.
dr. Lance Bennett
Lance earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2021. Prior to attending Duke University, Dr. Bennett received his bachelor's degree from Morehouse College in kinesiology and later earned his master's degree in exercise science from Auburn University. In addition to his doctoral degree, Dr. Bennett is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. During his time at Morehouse College, Dr. Bennett was a 4-year varsity football athlete, and because of his background in organized sports and experience as a collegiate student-athlete, Dr. Bennett has a passion for treating athletes of all sports and skill levels. Dr. Bennett enjoys solving problems of human movement and believes as a physical therapist, his role is to create optimal conditions which allow the human body the best environment to facilitate elite performance and recovery.
Triston Sheeko
Triston graduated from Cosby High (Moseley, VA) in 2017 & was a part of the Men’s basketball & golf team. From Cosby he went on to play collegiate basketball at Pfeiffer University. He then transferred to Longwood University in 2019. During his time at Longwood, he was was founding member and treasurer Longwood Men's Club Basketball team & was also on the Women’s Basketball Practice team. He graduated with a B.S in Kinesiology from and eventually went on to get his NSCA-CSCS certification.
